Welcome to Hunter James Photography!  As a husband and father of two children, I understand first hand how important it is to capture REAL memories together.  I know kids have unique personalities, and I strive to work with parents and bring those personalities out during our sessions.  I want you to look back and remember the facial expressions and individuality of your children that you experience every day.  I want your kids to look back at the same photos when they get older, and remember the beauty of their parents.  These experiences can all be captured through the lens, and my goal as a photographer is to bring out your  personalities and CAPTURE WHO YOU ARE AS A FAMILY.  I want the kids to play and run around, I want the parents to interact with the kids, I want you to be YOU - and if you want the same, then I WANT TO PROVIDE YOU with a Hunter James Experience.

SESSION COST  

HUNTER JAMES FAMILY SESSIONS 

The cost is $300 for any family session near my home in upper Montgomery County, Maryland.  Family sessions typically last 40-60 minutes (honestly, kids don't have an attention span much more than that).  I guarantee a minimum of 20 photos but typically deliver MANY MANY more photos with these sessions. I charge an additional +$50.00 for travel if the location is 30-60 minutes from my home (let's talk more about cost if you need me to travel more than 60 minutes to a location).  

HUNTER JAMES FAMILY MINI-SESSIONS 

The cost is $150 for any family mini-session near my home in upper Montgomery County, Maryland.  Family mini-sessions last no more than 20 minutes and I guarantee a minimum of 10 photos.  I typically do not do mini-sessions outside of my hometown because the travel time takes longer than the session time.  However, I do make exceptions for travel if you have friends who want a session and we schedule multiple back-to-back sessions on the same date at a specific venue.   In these cases, I still charge +$50.00 for travel, but I will split this travel cost by the number of families I have scheduled at the location.  I will waive all travel cost if 3 or more families are scheduled for the same date / location.   
 

WHAT TO WEAR?

The goal is COORDINATING outfits instead of MATCHING! I recommend avoiding pure WHITE as a top since white doesn’t allow for much contrast in your images.  Also try to avoid ORANGE and NEON colors.  Neutral colors are usually always a timeless choice that work well for families.  Neutral colors are usually very light colors such as gray, beige and taupe (brownish-gray).  More important than anything though - make sure you are COMFORTABLE!  

WhEN is the best time of day for photo sessions?

Summer + Spring:  Before 9AM OR after 5PM

Fall + Winter:  Before 10AM OR after 4PM

Most of my sessions are outdoors; but if we book a session indoors then time of day will be more dependent on the venue and less dependent on the sun.  I am certainly open to other times other than what I recommend above; however, it will simply require us to be more creative with lighting and the kiddos are MUCH easier to photograph when we don't need to be too specific about where to stand and what direction they need to face, etc...  

How long does it take to receive my photos?

I typically inform families that they will have their photos in 2 to 3 weeks.  Depending on the time of year and my workload, sometimes this can be quicker.  If you are in a HUGE rush and absolutely need your photos as quick as possible, I can expedite delivery of your gallery to be ready in 1 to 2 days for an additional $150.00.  This cost covers my time spent editing (e.g. color correction, cropping, touch ups) and setting up your gallery at hours I typically use for things other than photography (e.g. sleeZZping, doing SUPER FUN dad things, being an AMAZING husband, etc.).   

How will you deliver my photos?

Once I finish editing, high resolution photos are delivered to you via a private online gallery.   You will have the ability to download all of the images in your gallery, and you will have print rights so you can use / print your photos as needed.  My galleries do expire after 3 MONTHS!  Please download your images!! If you forget to download your images, I will charge an additional fee of $50.00 to re-activate your gallery (it costs me time and money to unarchive your photos) for another week.  If you want your photos on a USB drive, I can also ship a USB to your home address for an additional $50.00.
